Sometimes the same day, sometimes a week or two. Birds are cautious about anything new in their space. Keep the tray filled, give it a little time, and once the first few discover it, word spreads fast.

How do I clean it?

The tray slides right out. Empty it, rinse it, let it dry, slide it back. Every couple of weeks keeps things fresh and the birds healthy.

What are some friendly ways to keep squirrels away from my window bird feeder?

Window placement is your best tool. Mount the feeder on glass at least 5 feet off the ground and away from any ledge, railing, fence, or branch a squirrel can launch from (they can jump about 5 feet up and 7 feet across). Smooth glass is hard for squirrels to climb, so a well-placed window feeder is naturally tough for them to reach. If a determined squirrel still finds it, moving the feeder a little higher or farther from its launch point usually solves it
